Why you ride:
I love to compete! I love the feeling of the final yards of an all out sprint, the timing of it and the tactics of trying to get it just right. I just simply love to be outside "playing" on my bike. I am just a big kid at heart.
Why you support Elves and More NEO:
I always want to be a better me whenever I can, so I see this an an avenue for me to get involved with promoting the concept of giving back to the community. It is a learning experience for me in that I have never been too actively involved in any type of program like this and to see the positive side effects that this program has had on some of these children is really motivating. Who knows, maybe we will motivate one of these kids to take up riding or racing some day!
Favorite charity moment:
On bike delivery day, December 2007, we had a bus load full of volunteers driving through the neighborhood escorted by fire trucks and the Akron Police Department. The fire trucks and police had their sirens and lights going and many of the children were outside on their porches even though it was freezing rain outside. You could feel the excitement that they had.
2008 goals:
I hope to see some good results for our entire team. I would also like to see a decent podium spot at Masters Nationals for myself and an improvement in my time trial times. It's going to be a fun year working together to see where we can go in 2008. I am also anxious to see what new gains the charity group makes this year. Each year it grows by leaps and bounds. It's really amazing to see the support from everyone and the impact that it's had in our community.
