The Elves & More of Northeast Ohio Race Team was created to promote a healthy active lifestyle and to act as a tool to help generate and increase awareness for the Elves & More of Northeast Ohio charitable organization.
Elves & More of Northeast Ohio was founded in 2006 by two fellow cyclists and racers, Tim House and Brian Miner. Elves & More of Northeast Ohio accepts contributions throughout the entire year which are used to purchase bicycles as holiday gifts for entire neighborhoods of underprivileged children in Northeast Ohio. Contributors are invited to be as involved as possible to see their financial contribution all the way through the process from assembling the bicycles to actually delivering them on or around December 23rd. Their philosophy is to introduce “more than just a bike” to these neighborhoods of underprivileged children. The “more than just a bike” philosophy places emphasis on providing these children with a way to travel to after school programs, youth organizations, and community centers where the hope is they will form positive relationships with potential mentors and other like minded youngsters.
As bicycle enthusiasts, it is our hope that some of the children who receive these bicycles will benefit by experiencing the freedom, exercise, and enjoyment that we all get from riding and racing our bicycles. If, by chance, any of these young people learn to enjoy competitive cycling in the future we hope they will race for a team who promotes a philosophy of giving back.
